§ 52-262. Same—On specific streets

  • (a) The city commission may alter the maximum speed limit established by section 52-261, on any street or portion thereof within the city in accord with the provisions of Vernon's Ann. Civ. St. art. 6701d, § 169. Whenever signs are posted giving notice of the maximum legal speed limit so established for a particular street or portion thereof, it shall be unlawful for any person to drive or operate any vehicle at a rate of speed in excess of such limit.

    (b) The city manager, upon recommendation of the police chief, may alter the speed limit established by section 52-261, on any street or portion thereof within the city, in a construction zone, for up to 90 days. Whenever signs are posted giving notice of the maximum legal speed limit so established for a particular street or portion thereof, it shall be unlawful for any person to drive or operate any vehicle at a rate of speed in excess of such limit.
